THE ROLE OF GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING IN INFRASTRUTURES DEVELOPMENT

Faculty of Engineering University of Lambung Mangkurat in cooperation with Indonesian Geotechnical Engineers Association (HATTI) organized national seminar lifting a theme The Role of Geotechnical Engineering in Infrastructures Development in Kalimantan, Saturday (01/10). The event took place at Rattan Inn Hotel Banjarmasin, and was attended by the Specialized Staff for Development Affairs of South Kalimantan Governor Drs. H. Gusti Burhanudin M.Si, Rector of ULM Prof. Dr. H. Sutarto Hadi M.Si., M.Sc, Dean of Faculty of Engineering Dr. Ing Yulian Firmana Arifin, MT, Head of South Kalimantan HATTI Yusti Yudiawati, ST., MT, and representatives of sponsorships. Several undergraduates, postgraduates, and public from South Kalimantan and outside made their participation in this seminar. It was presented in today’s seminar that in developing infrastructures, geotechnical engineering study is necessary where the structure of South Kalimantan’s land itself mostly consist of wetland.

Rector of ULM Prof. Dr. H. Sutarto Hadi M.Si., M.Sc, in his marking, expressed his appreciation to all of the committees for successfully conducting such great seminar where the lifted theme represents what we really need for developments in Kalimantan. Infrastructures development in Kalimantan surely needs well-established coordination and synergy from all of parties, either from central government, entrepreneurs, or academicians. By the existence of this seminar, hopefully it will give positive benefits to encourage the infrastructures development in Kalimantan. (ULM Public Relations)
