The series of activities were held from 25 to 30 November 2019 and focused on the preservation of floating market tourism in South Kalimantan. The opening ceremony was held at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Lecture Theater Building and attended by the ULM Rector Prof. Sutarto Hadi, Director of International Office Dr. Arief Budiman, and Vice Dean III of FEB Ahmad Rifani.
 
Dr. Arief Budiman as the head of the committee said that this program is the newest program from ULM where we invite students from all over the world to participate in giving ideas and contributions to preserving the floating cultural heritage of the floating market. This activity was attended by 10 international students from various countries such as Vietnam, the Philippines, Germany, Australia, Kyrgyzstan, and Morocco. In his speech the ULM’s Rector said, as a city of the Thousand Rivers, the floating market is one of the leading destinations in Banjarmasin and in South Kalimantan. With this program, ULM can work together with the government to improve the quality of the floating market. In addition, ULM has also collaborated with Indonesian Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary in preserving the iconic animal in South Kalimantan. The event was opened in the Lecture Theater Building, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) ULM, KUI’s annual meeting entering its fourth year was attended by 160 participants representing 140 universities and polytechnics both public and private from Sabang to Merauke.
 
This annual forum aims to encourage the quality enhancement of internationalization management at university level, including international cooperation management on higher education, international mobility program, and other international programs as well as the management of student services and international experts.
 
The Director of International Office ULM, Arief Budiman explained, the annual meeting which will be held for three days will discuss the issue of international cooperation of universities in Indonesia through Internationalization programs. ULM itself besides other universities in Indonesia who are experienced in designing and implementing international cooperation programs will be the speakers in this forum. The aim is certainly to inspire other universities to emulate or modify the international cooperation program to be applied at their own university. “ULM has also implemented quite a number of international cooperation programs including those in America, Europe, Australia and other countries in Asia,” Arief said.
 
In addition, this meeting is also expected to emerge an embryo of cooperation between universities in Indonesia to jointly create an international cooperation program. (IO-ULM)

This activity was attended by two professors and 24 students from Newcastle University Australia. This series of 2019 Summer Course activities will be held from July 1 to 14, 2019. During the next 14 days, participants will visit diamond mining in Martapura, PT. Adaro in Tabalong, Loksado in Hulu Sungai Selatan, and PT. JBG in Tanah Laut Regency. The purpose of this program is to enable participants to learn how to manage post-mining land and how to rehabilitate post-mining forests. 
 
 
The opening of this event was held on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at the 1st floor Hall of the ULM and was attended by Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation and Public Relations, Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Yudi Firmanul Arifin, M.Sc., Director of International Office ULM Arief Budiman, along with representatives from PT Adaro Indonesia, PT. JBG, and PT. Gawi Makmur Kalimantan which conveyed a little general description of mining and oil plantation in South Kalimantan.
 
In his remarks, Prof. Yudi said that ULM has grade A for accreditation. ULM is the right place for participants to learn about mining especially in wetland environments. He also hoped that in the third edition of the Summer Course Program, all participants could enjoy the trip and receive many lessons, not only in terms of mining, but also culture and tourism in South Kalimantan.

Letter of Agreement for 8th batch has been signing by the coordinators of all participating institutions, including Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM).  
 
The SEA Teacher Project or the “Pre-Service Student Teacher Exchange in Southeast Asia” is a project that aims to provide opportunity for pre-service student teachers from universities in Southeast Asia to have teaching experiences (practicum) in schools in other countries in Southeast Asia.
 
Based on the SEAMEO seven priority areas for the eleven SEAMEO Member countries to work together to improve the quality of education in Southeast Asia, “Revitalizing Teacher Education” is one of the priority areas in building and strengthening capacity of teachers in the region.
 
The exchange is preferably for 4th year students whose major are in math, science, English and pre-school. The duration is for one month and based on the mechanism of cost sharing basis. Students’ roles and responsibilities are assigned weekly during the one month period (observe, assist in teaching, teach and reflect). Moreover, the host universities will provide mentors to supervise and monitor the students throughout the practicum period.
 
For this 8th batch will be held on from 1st August  – 30th September 2019. ULM plans to send 15 students and receive also 15 students for the 8th Batch Pre Service Students Teacher 2019. This is one of the great number of sending and receiving since participated at this program from the 2nd batch. (IO – ULM)

Two days ago, they (TEC) also held the same agenda in Bandung, and today is in Banjarmasin. Today’s agenda was attended by many students that come from various senior high school and universities in Banjarmasin and others area from South Kalimantan, such as Amuntai and Tanah Laut. 
 
Rector of Lambung Mangkurat University, Prof. Sutarto Hadi is very welcomed this collaboration with several universities in Taiwan. There’re 12 Universities in Taiwan joining this education exhibition. Rector said that “the education system in Taiwan can be said to be the best in Asia and even the world. Therefore, we want to study with universities in Taiwan so that ULM can be a leading and competitive university “.
 
 
Today, ULM sign 7 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with universities in Taiwan. Director of the ULM International Office, Dr. Arief Budiman said that the MoU will be effective next year. Currently ULM is exploring a number of faculties and study programs that are in line with the seven universities and further discuss the aspects of financing. “We deliberately collaborate with a number of universities in Taiwan because they are among the top class universities, especially since Taiwan has opened many scholarship opportunities for lecturers and students,” said Arif.

There are 16 students from Philippines and Thailand are warmly welcomed by Rector of Lambung Mangkurat Univeristy, Prof. Dr. Sutarto Hadi, M.Si., M.Sc and Profesor Yudi as the Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation and Public Relation Lambung Mangkurat Univeristy. On this occasion, Prof. Yudi Firmanul Arifin said that the arrival of foreign students to ULM is one of the program from International Office ULM, namely Southeast Asia Teacher Project. This program is the result of the cooperation between Lambung Mangkurat University and SEAMEO (Southeast Asian Ministers of Educations Organization), which is an international organization intended to promote cooperation in education, science in Southeast Asia. 
 
This year, Lambung Mangkurat University receives 16 students from various Universities in Philippines and Thailand. There are 2 students from Pampanga State Agriculture University (PSAU), 2 students from Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University (VRU), 3 students from Philippine Normal University Mindanao Campus (PNU – MND), 3 students from Khon Kaen University (KKU), 2 students from University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC), 3 students from Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) and 2 student from University of Santo Tomas (UST). Also, the Lambung Mangkurat University sent 16 students that spread in Thailand and the Philippine. The students come from various disciplines of science, such as social science, natural science, mathematics, English, elementary and pre-school. These 6 students will do the practicum as practice teacher at SDI Sabilal Muhtadin, SDN Pasar Lama 1, SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Banjarmasin, SMP Negeri 1, SMK Negeri 4 and SMA Negeri 2 Banjarmasin. They will live in Banjarmasin for one month, from January 14th – February 11th 2019. (IO- ULM).

There are four students graduated from the Philippine Indonesian School (SID) came to Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) through an agreed cooperation program between ULM and SID.
 
The presence of the four students in Banjarmasin was directly delivered by the Deputy Principal of SID Public Relations, Nanang Sumanang.
 
The four SID’s students symbolically handed over to the Head of the Cooperation Planning and Public Relations Bureau of ULM, Ir. H. Sarwadi and were also attended by the Head of the Academic Administration Bureau of ULM, Drs. Asrani.Nanang admitted that he was grateful that his students could continue their study in higher education at ULM. “We are very grateful to the ULM’s Rector, Prof. Dr. H Sutarto Hadi of this collaboration until Davao children can study in Indonesia,” said Nanang.
 
The four young men who will be living in South Kalimantan to study at ULM consist of Christian Tampomona Adilang who takes the Management Study Program at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Chrisanto Puae Burongan in Information Technology Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, Bryan M Manansang in Physical Education and Arnel R Masoa takes English Education Study Program at Faculty of Teacher Training and Education.
For the information, the children who study at SID are the sons and daughters of Indonesian citizens who live around General Santos City and on Balut Island and Sarangani. Most of their students have not yet determined their citizenship status before they turn 18 years old. However, the majority of children born there prefer to become Indonesian citizens because of their parents from Indonesia.
