The New Colombo Plan 2018 : Biodiversity Program of Proboscis Monkey and Orangutan

South Kalimantan, 01 – 14 July 2018. Universitas Lambung Mangkurat through the International Office held the Summer Course. This year’s Summer Course is about the diversity of proboscis monkeys and orangutans in Kalimantan. This program is implemented because there is a cooperation between Lambung Mangkurat University and the University of Newcastle Australia through the program of the New Colombo Plan 2018.
 
The program was attended by 20 Students and 3 Professors from the University of Newcastle Australia. This activity was held for two weeks, from July 1 to July 14, 2018. For two weeks, the program was conducted at several points, namely Bakut Island, Curiak Island, Panjaratan Village and Tanjung Puting National Park where there are habitat of bekantan (proboscis monkey) and orangutans.
 
This program was welcomed by the Australian Ambassador for Indonesia in Jakarta and also fully supported by the Mayor of Banjarmasin. During the event, participants were introduced to the diversity of Bekantan (Proboscis Monkey) behavior by experts from Sahabat Bekantan Indonesia (SBI) and experts who also came from ULM Campus.
